SEO Continues to Grow
SEO is now, more than ever, an essential entity when it comes to having a successful website. It continues to grow, branch out and spread its roots across the World Wide Web. There are online resources for SEO all over, making it more and more easy for people to maintain and optimize their websites.
There are still skeptics out there that don’t believe in Search Engine Optimization, and if they are paying attention they have noticed they are not doing too well. It is certainly easier to ignore the whole SEO trend and just do what you want, but it is a lot more beneficial to spend a little extra time and invest a little more effort into your site. A little effort for a large return.
For those of us who have just realized we should have been doing this all along, and need to fix our sites, there are professionals out there that you can hire. But, be sure to do your research on them before you go hiring someone to ‘help’ your entire company. Roderick Ioerger from Marketing Pilgrim points this out in his article “The SEO Bubble is Expanding”:
…for those of you looking to hire a professional to assist you with your SEO needs, remember not all professionals are made equal. It will be more important than ever to understand what a specific service provider can bring to the table in terms of skills, knowledge, and experience before making your final selection.
…All clients are not created equal either and sometimes a client’s plan or expectations may not be in a position to succeed no matter how good the intention is and a client like that can just make work more difficult than it should be.
It’s a good idea to know what you’re looking for when you start thinking about optimizing your site. Do not expect instant results, or anything too huge at first, but definitely expect it to be worth it if you pick the right one.
Don’t know how to find a professional? This is where SEO really plays a key role – try Googling it. Do some research on it. Take advice from people around you, after all there may be someone you know with a fantastic recommendation. Don’t just assume that because you know very little about what SEO is right now, that you are going to stay that way and let someone else decide what you need. Be sure to check into a couple different companies before making a decision. Just because the economy is bad right now does not mean you won’t find someone good for the job.
Why should you be optimizing now? Well, if you have a site for your company, you want it to do well. And quite honestly, times are tough right now in the business world, so anything you can do to get ahead in it is a cost that is way under the long term benefits. The people that feel that SEO is not worth at the very least looking into are the ones who are going to come in last place, and eventually fail when it comes right down to it. You don’t want your company to be barely hanging in there, you want it to be booming, especially when times are difficult.
So, when will the expansion of SEO end? Contrary to what some people still think, not any time soon, it is far too important.

I agree, SEO is not going anywhere. If anything, it will become more important. With Google improving their search algorithms everyday, companies and people who count on the internet for business need to constantly be optimizing their websites.

SEO is a tough thing to do and should be given a lot of respect. It may not be an exact science, but it becomes even more and more necessary as the Internet-for-business concept evolves. Right now, SEO specialists are few and are having a hard time being recognized in their importance. Hope people (particularly site admins) would be open-minded enough to understand that not only is the Internet a place to exchange information, it is also a place of business and therefore needs savvy marketing.
