Back in March, I published a blog post that discussed a new Google SERP design that could possibly come into fruition. Recently, if you have been to Google, you would have noticed that the new SERP design has been fully implemented.

With this new SERP design, you will notice the following cosmetic changes:

  1. Search Page – You will find that the search page has a cleaner and more “Web 2.0″-like appearance.
  2. SERPs – The options to help narrow your search results now appear as a left-hand column under the “Everything” category. You will be able to narrow your search results by selecting the various sections (such as: Books, Maps, etc.), depending on the type of your search query. You can even get updated and real-time search results by clicking on the “Updates” link that may appear.

You may have also recently noticed that when you type a search query in Google, the suggested queries may come up with your city (or surrounding cities). This was something that was also recently implemented into Google‘s search results to help make its search more relevant to you.

To see other changes that have been made to Google‘s SERPs, I have provided a video below, narrated by Product Manager Nundu Janakiram and User Experience Designer John Wiley. This video provides a visual tour of these new SERPs, along with how these new additions can be useful to you from their perspective.

What is your opinion about the new Google SERP design? Are they heading in the right direction? Please be sure to leave your feedback about this topic in our comments section below. It would be great to see the feedback from different search perspectives around the web.
